My cloud journey

As every week passes, it feels like we are nudging closer back to normal reality, whatever that means.  The fallout and damage done over the last 18 months will for some sectors sadly last a lifetime. I think everyone needs to focus on the positives, despite how hard that might feel at times.  It’s so important to try and see the light in all the recent darkness and take stock of just how far we have come and what has been accomplished collectively.  Every single person reading this should be proud of themselves. I mean that.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been part of a company and industry that while faced with radical and super-evolving changes and adversity, has by far managed to cope in the technological landscape that we are now in.  While we are most definitely living in a digital revolution, I’d like to ask if your organisation is ready to make the changes needed for ongoing success post COVID and beyond?

Cloud technology is not new, in fact, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) – one of the fundamental solutions to host computer resources in the cloud, celebrated its 15th birthday recently!

Despite how much you have developed or started to investigate cloud technology, we are still just at the start of this exciting evolutionary journey.  In March 2019, it was estimated that while cloud adoption was occurring, an estimated 98% of the world’s IT was still being procured on premises.

By the end of 2021, Gartner has forecasted a growth of 17.3% in cloud adoption since the start of the pandemic, with a high % of that growth in the SMB (1000 users or less) market.  82% of the SMBs have reported reduced costs with the adoption, with 70% being able to re-invest the savings back into their organisation.

I am excited to be able to work with existing and new customers on this ever-evolving journey and to help organisations truly leverage and harness all that cloud technology has to offer.  At SVL, a huge amount of our portfolio has now been re-engineered to be cloud ready, including Enterprise Grade NICE technology and legacy data platforms that were designed and built using cloud-native architectures and services.

We are now able to offer Software as A Service (SaaS) models, replacing expensive Capital expenditure with most products and services that we provide.

Do you have an idea or problem that we might be able to address?  If you have legacy data issues or simply want to discuss how cloud might be able to help your organisation, I would love to hear about it.

My advice to anyone thinking about moving to cloud would be to start small but have a plan! Most Enterprise sector customers have reported a preference to adopt a hybrid model, where a mixture of traditional on-prem and cloud technologies can work in parallel.  This can be the starting place for cloud adoption for many organisations.  A lot of our products can support this way of deployment.

SVL have great solutions to migrate large data sets into robust, secure, and scalable Cloud environments.  Could this be start of your journey?

Wishing you all the very best for the last part of 2021 and into 2022.
